New data released has revealed that chemical toxins may be used in makeup products. For example, lead was found in lip stick, arsenic in mascara and foundation, cadmium in powder and blush, and beryllium in eye shadow and bronzers.

A study of 49 different makeup products was done on an Environmental Defense report and all toxins tested(excluding mercury) were found in the products tested.

The Ontario-based company looked for arsenic, cadmium, mercury, lead, selenium, lead, nickel, beryllium, and thallium. On average, each product contained at least four chemicals. Two popular products both tested for harmful chemical, Clinique Stay True makeup and L’Oreal Bare Naturale mascara.
